Family Haven offers a variety of services free of charge to all victims of domestic violence regardless of age, sex, race, creed, marital, social, or economic status. Among the services we offer are:
Emergency Shelter The Emergency Shelter houses women and their children in an undisclosed location. Staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the shelter allows you and your children to remain together in a home-like setting. During the last year, we provided shelter to 194 women and their children. The shelter is a temporary place where you can stay until you are able to function more independently and safely in the community.
While you are in the shelter, you and your children will work with our staff to develop a plan for your independence and to help you work within the community. Our Children’s Advocates will work with you and your children to make sure their individual needs are being addressed.
Legal Advocacy Family Haven has a Legal Advocate who will provide you with support and assistance in seeking a Temporary Protection Order (TPO).
We can also refer you to legal resources to help with any other legal issues you may have.
Support Groups Family Haven offers support groups on Tuesday nights for women who are or have experienced domestic violence. These support groups are open to the public and provide a good opportunity for you to reach out to others for help, support, and education. There is free babysitting for children six years old and younger and a support group for children ages seven through twelve.
Public School Prevention Program Family Haven provides an annual outreach to the public schools to educate our children about domestic violence.
